     William was born on Tuesday, 27 October 1665 in Portsmouth, Newport County, Rhode Island. William married Deborah Cook on 12 July 1688 in Tiverton, Newport County, Rhode Island.2 William & Deborah had children: Mary [8/02/1689], John [10/10/1692], Job [4/28/1696], Elizabeth [11/14/1697-before 4/29/1747], Lamuel [4/15/1701], Deborah 7/27/1703], Rebecca [10/14/1704], twins: Joseph [10/03/1707] & William [10/03/1707]. All the childen were born in Tiverton, Newport County, R.I.3 William married 2nd Hope Borden on 14 July 1722 in Portsmouth. William made his will on 29 April 1747 at Tiverton, Newport County, Rhode Island. I William Almy of Tiverton . . . leaves several parcels of land to his son Job. Job is to pay certain sums of money to the children of his deceased son, John. William is to recieve part of the homestead. He bequeaths to Lumuel's children land and money. He left to his wife, Hope, the items she brought to the marriage, to be in as good acondition as when she brought it to the marriage. Also the bedstead which they shared as well as money and other items including a riding horse. He gives to his deceased daughter, Elizabeth Almy's, son. Rebeccah Slocum is to receive 500 pounds and household goods. He gives all of his silver spoons to his children William and Rebeccah Slocum. He gives to his two sons, Job and Lamuel all of his living stock. Lamuel is to maintain the dam that is used for watering. Lemuel is to aid his brother, Wiliam as long as he provides a cow for his mother to milk. To his cousin, Deborah Cook, he leaves 100 pounds, a rooom in his dwelling house and food is to be provided for her. He names his son, William to be his executor.4 William departed this life on Thursday, 6 July 1747 in Tiverton, Newport County, Rhode Island.5 The inventory of William's estate was taken on Saturday, 29 July 1747 by Ebenezer Taiber, Thomas Gray and Restcome Sanford. They appraised the estate at £7560 19s. 6d. His will was probated on 3 August 1747.

His first wife, the mother of his children, was Deborah, daughter of John Cook, of Ports-mouth. They had nine children, Mary, John, Job, Elizabeth, Samuel, Deborah, Rebecca, Joseph and William, (twins).
    Job, born April 28, 1696, married Lydia Tillinghast, of East Greenwich. John, born October 10, 1692, married Anstice Ellery, daughter of Hon. Benjamin Ellery. Elizabeth, born November 14, 1697, married her cousin, Christopher Almy, born May 5, 1698, of Newport, R. I., son of
    Col. Job Almy and brother of Elizabeth, born August 1, 1703, who married William Ellery. Samuel, born April 15, 1701, married and had a son, William, mentioned in the will of his grandfather. Rebecca, born October 14, 1704, married one Slocum; either Mary or Deborah married one Ellet, and had a daughter, Amey, mentioned in her grand-father's will.
    William Almy left considerable property, inventoried at x`7,600, consisting of money, real estate, live stock, negro slaves and farming implements. He owned land in Dartmouth, Tiverton, and at Cadman's Neck, Punketest, etc. He makes mention in his will of his two great-grandchildren, Elisha and Anstice Almy, children of his grandson, John, son of his son, John. To Benjamin, son of his son, John, he also makes a legacy. To his grandson, Job AImy, son of his daughter, Elizabeth, who married her cousin Christopher, he left 2200. To his grandson, William, son of Samuel, he leaves property in Dartmouth. His grandson, Gideon, son of his son, William, is mentioned in the will of William Almy's widow, Hope Borden.
