     Alfred was born on Friday, 1 August 1856 in the Village of Tweed, Hungerford Township, Hastings County, Ontario, Canada. He was often referred to as Fred. Alfred married Maggie Meraw, daughter of Louis-Treffle Merand and Harriett Pelland dit Beausoliel, on 18 April 1882 in Madoc Township, Hastings County, Ontario, Canada, at Sacred Heart of Mary Church.¹ Fred & Margaret had children: Margaret [1883-1947][m.
