Mary was born on Tuesday, 15 November 1757 in West Farms, Westchester County, New York. Mary married James Barker on 11 February 1780 in Harrison, Westchester County, New York.1 James and Mary had one son, James [1784]. Mary married 2nd Enoch Maxwell circa 1789 in New York. Enoch and Mary had children: Anthony Leggett [1790-5/07/1863] [m. 1819 Rachel Stafford], Embree [1793], Abigail [5/30/1795-12/06/1846] [m. Darius Olney], Euphemia [1799] [m. Josiah Dean], Martha [4/17/1799-2/13/1872] [m. David Olney], Mary [1803] [m. Benjamin Lebaron].2 Mary made her will on 20 January 1850.
Considering the uncertainty of this mortal life, and being of sound memory and mind, do make and publish this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following: That is to say, I give unto my son Embree the farm I now live on, together with the personal property that I possess, by his paying the sum of five hundred dollars to my daughter Uphemia Dean, and thirteen hundred dollars to my daughter Mary Lebaron, by his paying the above legacies; that to Uphemia Dean is to be paid in one year after my decease and the sum of thirteen hundred dollars to Mary Lebaron, to be paid her on the completion of this my last Will and Testament. - I hereby appoint my son Embree Maxwell and John Garrison, Executors to this my last Will. In witness whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and seal this twentieth day of January, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty. Witnesses present: Abraham Leggett, of the town of Stillwater, Saratoga County, Ebenezer Leggett, of the town of Stillwater, Saratoga County.3
4 November 1850, the U.S. Federal Census listed Mary living in the home of her son at Saratoga Township, Saratoga County, New York. Enumerated in this household were Embree Maxwell [54 New York], Mary [96 New York], Helen Adcock [15 New York], Thomas Aldrich [9 New York], Benjamin Lebaron [43 New York], Mary [40 New York] & Patrick Raney [28 Ireland]. The family farm is valued at $9400. Embree and Benjamin are farmers.4 Mary departed this life on Tuesday, 21 September 1852 in Saratoga Township, Saratoga County, New York. She was buried there in Quaker Springs Cemetery. The inscription on her tombstone reads: Mary Maxwell - Born 11th month 15, 1757 - Died 9th month 21, 1852.5 Her will was probated on 11 April 1853.
