     On 24 January 1834, his brother, Thomas, leaves him enough money to be adequately maintained. Gabriel was born on Sunday, 1 September 1743 in West Farms, Westchester County, New York. Gabriel was probably married first about 1767. The name of his wife is unknown. Thomas and his wife had children: Benjamin [ca 1768], Thomas [ca 1770], son [1772] & Gabriel [ca 1774],

Samuel [1001:1001] - 1800, Gabriel [0011:0101] - 1810, Benjamin [11:1] - 1790.1 Gabriel married Bridget Allen on 7 February 1779 in Saratoga County, New York. In about 1776, Gabriel settled on a farm near Stillwater, Saratoga County, New York with his father. He is listed on the tax rolls there is 1779 as well as his brother Isaac. He & his brother Isaac were the founders of the Society of Friend there. The 1790 U.S. Federal Census enumerates at Stillwater, Albany County, New York, the family of Gabriel Leggett [41:4].2 Gabriel and his brother,Isaac, as well as their brother-in-law Thomas Wilber were founders of the Quaker Society in Saratoga Township in the 1790's.3 The 1800 U.S. Federal Census enumerates at Stillwater, Saratoga County, New York, the family of Gabriel Leggett [10201:01301].4 Gabriel's wife, an unknown person , died in February 1813 in Stillwater leaving him a widower. Gabriel married 2nd Rachael Lawrence on 11 December 1816 in Saratoga County, New York. Gabriel departed this life on Friday, 23 March 1838 in Stillwater at age 94 years, 6 months and 22 days.

On the 1790 census, there are 4 males 16 and ove6r; one being Gabriel the father and three sons being born 1774 and before. and one son after 1774 as well 3 daughters and his wife. Listed right below Gabriel is lisisted Benjamin Leggett [1 male 16 & over, one male under 16 and one female] who is presumed to be Grabriel's eldest son. This would give Gabriel 4 son, 16 or over.
