Ann Lawton

     Ann was born on Monday, 25 April 1678 in Portsmouth, Newport County, Rhode Island. She was the daughter of Isaac Lawton and Elizabeth Tallman. Ann married Job Almy, son of Christopher Almy and Elizabeth Cornell, in 1696 in Portsmouth. Job and Ann had children: Christopher [5/05/1698-2/03/1728] & Elizabeth [8/01/1703-7/03/1783] [m. 1723 William Ellery]. Ann departed this life on Thursday, 12 February 1739 in Portsmouth at age 60 years, 9 months and 18 days. The insceription on her tombstone reads: In Memory of Ann wife of Cap Job Almy Died Feb. ye 12th 1739 in the 61 year of her age.¹


She was buried there in Common Burying Ground.
