Madeleine le Gay

     Madeleine was born circa 1640 in Paris, Ile-de-France, France, at the parish of St-Merry. She was the daughter of Jean le Guay & Madeleine.1 In the spring of 1668, Madeleine left Paris aboard the ship, "La Nouvelle France", under the command of Captain Allain Durand, some departing from Dieppe & others from La Rochelle before crossing the ocean for Quebec. She was one of 81 young women who were "Filles du Roi". They arrived at Quebec on the 3rd of July..2 Madeleine married Jacques Larchevesque dit Lapromenade, son of Claude Larchevesque and Marie Simon, on 3 June 1669 in ville de Quebec, Quebec, Canada, at the Basilica of Notre Dame.3 Jacques and Marie Madeleine had children: Jean [1/25/1670-1/25/1670], a daughter [1/25/1670-1/25/1670], Marie Madeleine [3/25/1671][10/26/1691 Jacques Dessaux], Joseph [5/15/1672-7/13/1754][m. 8/08/1707 Marie Renee Marsan dit Lapierre], Philippe [2/17/1674-11/21/1746][m. 10/18/1706 Marie Jeanne Desmarias], Jean Baptiste [6/17/1675-9/30/1742][m. 1/13/1705 Marie Therese Ayotte], Francois 3/07/1677-1/15/1711][m. 1/19/1706 Marie Marguerite Therese Chabot dit la Marre], Jacques [ 8/22/1678-5/18/1688], Claude Ignace [4/17/1681], Charles Jacques [2/17/1684-8/30/1702]. 1681, Madeleine and her husband, Jacques, were listed on the Canadian Census in L'Ancienne-Lorette, Quebec, Canada. Enumerated in this household were Jacques Larchevesque [34 years], Madeleine le Guay [41 years], Marie [11 years], Joseph [10 years], Philippe [9 years], Francois [7 years], Baptiste [4 years], Jacques [2 years] & Claude [6 months].4 Madeleine departed this life before 1695 probably in ville de Quebec. Her husband remarried during this year.
