Mathieu Labat

Mathieu was born in Bourg-Sur-Mer, Gascogne, Aquitaine, France, at the parish of St-Gilles. He was first married to Renee Montet. A contract was drawn up by notary Saverin Ameau, for the marriage of Mathieu and Marie Deneau. It was signed on 23 January 1653 in Trois-Rivieres, Quebec, Canada. It was noted that Mathieu was of Bourg-Sur-Mer, parish de St-Gilles, Gascogne, France and that he was the widower of Renee Montet & son of Jacques Labot & Marie Fortin. It was also noted that Marie was of Angouleme, widow of Etienne Vien & daughter of Liard Denot & Marguerite Lafons..1 Mathieu departed this life in Trois-Rivieres, Quebec, Canada. He was buried there in the churchyard of L'Assomption on Wednesday, 9 December 1654.2
