Johan Philipp Korffman1

M, b. 1653, d. April 1726
     Johan Philipp was born in 1653 in Alzey, Rheinhessen, Rheinland-Pfalz, Germany. Johan married Anna Ottila Lufft, daughter of Johann Daniel Lufft and Anna Cathrina (?), circa 1675 in Stein-Bockenheim at the Evangelisch Church. Before 1684, the family resided at Alzey, a city located in the Upper Rhine Plain that is nestled in the northern part of the Alzey hills. They later resided at Stein-Bockenheim, seven miles west of Alzey. Even before moving the family, Philip had become a member of the Stein-Bokenheim business community. He was appointed a Paletine Electoral overseer, district magistrate and mayor of the city. He was also a noted inn keeper. Around the year 1689, Philip succeeded his step father-in-law as Schultheiss and retained the positon until his death. Johan's wife, Anna, died on 3 February 1711 in Stein-Bockenheim leaving him a widower.2 Johan married 2nd Anna Margaretha (?) on 27 July 1711 in Stein-Bockenheim. Johan departed this life in April 1726 in Stein-Bockenheim, Rheinhessen, Germany. On 30 April 1726, Johan was buried at Stein-Bockenheim, Rheinhessen, Germany.
