Joseph was born circa 1642 in Great Gonerby, Lincolnshire, England. Joseph married Margaret (?) circa 1675 in Queen Anne's Parish, Prince George County, Maryland. Joseph & his brother, Edward, and their sister, Rebecca, came to America in the later part of the seventeenth century settling in Maryland. They resided in Queen Anne's Parish. Joseph made his will on 20 December 1688 at Calvert County, Maryland.
In the name of God, Amen. that whereas I Joseph Isack of Calvert County and province of Maryland planter being very sick and weake [sic] of body but in good sound perfect memory and sence do [sic] make my Last Will and Testament renouncing all other wills before all present
Item I Give and bequeath my soule unto almighty God who gave it me and my body to ye Earth from whence it was taken to be decently Buried trusting in and through the merrits of Jesus Christ my savior to Enjoy a joyfull resurrection at ye Last days and as for my small portion of Estate That it hath pleased God to bestow upon one I Give and bequeath in form & manner as follows
Item I give and bequeath to my Son Richard Isacke all my Track of Land being one hundred Acres more or less with all privileges there unto belonging to him and his heirs forever and ye he shall enjoy the same when he comes to ye age of one and twenty years and also I give to my said Son Richard one Mare Called by ye name of Jonquil and all her futor -- Increase only my will and pleasure is ye his sister Elizabeth shall have ye first mare Colt that ye said mare shall bring with all her increase to her heirs or assigns as also I give and bequeath to my said son Richard five head of Cattle being his own property namely one cow called by ye name Slowly one Cow called by the name of Mulberry one heifer called Monday and two Cow Calves with all their future increase of the female to him his heirs or assigns also I give and bequeath t my said son Richard one gunn & that he shall be at ye Chussing his guardian when he comes to ye age of sixteen years -
Item I give and bequeath unto my son Joseph one cow and her calf called by the name of ___y with all their future increase ye female also I give and bequeath to my said son Joseph one young maare Colt called by ye name of Difo with all her future increase only my will and pleasure is ye his sister Rebecka shall have ye first mare Colt of said mare Shall bring with all her increase I also give and bequeath to my said son Joseph one Gunn and ye he shall at ye age of sixteen years Chuse his guardian --
Item I give and bequeath unto my Daughter Elizabeth five head of Cattle being property her own as namely one cow Called Lady one cow Called Damsoll one heifer Called Gamble and one heifer Called Gift and one cow calf with all their future increase of females
Item I give and bequeath unto my Son-in-Law Joseph Brown one Cow and her Calf Called by the name of Cloudy with all their increase of female I also give to ye said Joseph Brown one young mare called by ye name of Raser with all her increase and also one sow Known by her Long tail and also one young white sow with all their increase and also I give and bequeath ye said Joseph my Long Gunn -------
Item I give and bequeath to my Daughter Rebecka one heifer Called by the name of Young Negro with all her increase of female ---
Item I give and bequeath to my son-in-law James Clifford one Cow Calf with all her increase of female he shall be bound at Court to remain and stay with his mother till he comes of age of twenty one years ---
Item I give and bequeath unto my Daughter Elizabeth one feather bed and Bolster
Item I give and bequeath unto my Daughter Rebeka one feather bed and Bolster
Item I give and bequeath to my deare and well beloved wife all ye rest of my cattle with all their increase and one young mare called by the name of Peggi with all her increase And futher I doe appoint and ordaine
my dear and loving wife Margaret to be my whole Executrix while she remain and after my funeral and debts being paid what other Estate shall be left after ye fore mentioned legacies payed then my will is ye my said Ext shall appraise ye same and she to have her third share and ye rest to be equally divided amongst my four children Richard Joseph Elizabeth and Rebeka also my will and pleasure is ye my son-in-law Joseph Brown shall this Expiring year stay upon this plantation with his mother and under her command till ye twenty fifth day of December next in Date and ye he shall have half a share of what tobacco shall be sold and it is my will and pleasure ye my son Richard shall at ye age of twenty three years pay to his brother Joseph Isacke ye each year two thousand pounds of tobacco and ye next year after two Thousand pounds of tobacco which makes four thousand and my will and pleasure is ye my Daughters shall have their legacies & share of ye estate at ye day of their marriage & my will and pleasure is ye my Estate may be appraised within six months after my decease so ye Lords will be done in testimony of this my last will and testament I have hereunto sett my hand and fixed my seal this 29th of December 1688 I give to my loving wife all ye remained of what tobacco is left and my will & pleasure is ye my Children have one years schooling
