Richard was born circa 1678 in Queen Anne's Parish, Prince George County, Maryland. He was not yet 16 at the writing of his father's will. Richard married Sarah Pottenger, daughter of John Pottenger and Mary Mill, in 1710 in Calvert County. Richard was a Gentleman Planter of Queen Anne's Parish. He served as a vestryman & Justice of the Peace. He was always styled as a "Gentleman". On 20 September 1726, Richard and Sarah conveyed to Joseph Peach, their son-in-law, husband of Mary, a tract of land called Isaac's Discovery containing 150 acres.2 On 7 August 1730/31, Richard and Sarah, with love and affection conveyed to their son-in-law, Westall Ridgely, husband of Sarah, a tract of land called Isaac's Park containing 150 acres.3 Richard's wife, Sarah, died before 10 March 1759 in Queen Anne's Parish leaving him a widower. Richard made his will on 10 March 1759 at Prince George County, Maryland.
In the name of God, Amen. This tenth day of March, in the year of our Lord God One Thousand Seven Hundred and fifty Nine, I Richard Isaac, Sr. of Prince George's County and Province aforesaid being very weak but in sound mind and memory do make this my last will and testament in manner and form following. Revolking all other will or wills by me here of me made. And first I recommend my soul to God hoping through the mediation of Jesus Christ my Lord and Savior to obtain Eternal Life and my body to the Earth to be buried in a descent mannour as my Executors hereafter named shall seem meet. Item it is my will that all my just debts and fines and charges be paid without suiteof law or trouble by my executors hereafter Mntioned. Item I give and bequeath to my son Richard Isaac his heirs and assigns forever two hundred and fifty acres of land it being the Rmaining part of a Tract of Land Called Isaac Park, the Tract containing Three Hndred and Sixty five acres. One hundred fifty of which I have here here to for Given by Deed of gift to my Son-in-Law Westall Ridgely: And also I give to my son Richard: another Tract of Land Called Bealls Park, Containing one hundred and Ten acres it lying Between the Past and P Banches, also two hundred Acres of land Called the Addition. The above named land to him his heirs and assigns forever. Item, I give and bequesth to my son Joseph Isaac One hundred fifty five acres called Mary's Delight, forgoing to the tract of Stoney Plains: also fourty five acres of land part of a Tract of land called Isaac's Discovery to him, his heirs and assigns forever. Lastly, I give the remaining part of my Estate where so ever and what so ever to be found to be equally divided amongst my two Sons and five Daughters namely Richard Isaac, Joseph Isaac, Sarah Ridgely; Rachael Jones; Keziah Fowler; Drussilla Fowler; Jemima Jacobs; each to have their Equal Shear in Such thing as my Estate consits of at the appraisement and this my last Will and Testament I constitutes, ordains and appoint by two sons Richard Isaac and Joseph Isaac my full whole and Sole Executors: in witness whereof I have sworn unto set my hand and seals the day and year above. Signed, sealed, published and delivered to be the last will and testament of Richard Isaac, Sr. in prescence of us John Margalt, Marsh Mareen Duvall, John Duvall.
On the back of this will was endorsed Prince George on the 28th day of June 1759 John Magalt, Marsh Mareen Duvall, John Duvall made oath on the holy Evangelist of Almighty God that they did See Richard Isaac late of Prince George County , deceased, Sign, Seal, & deliver the within instrument of writing his last Will & Testament & that at the time of his so doing [to the best of their apprehension] he was of sound Memory & of disposing mind & that at his request & in his presence they severally signed the same as witnesses as sworn before ,Prince George [Maryland Perogative Court Wills: Volume I: pages 507-508].4
Richard departed this life in Queen Anne's Parish. His will was probated on 28 June 1759.
