I John Hotchkiss of the town of New Haven being very sick of body yet of perfect memory, not knowing how God may ____with me – as to this life, I do make this my last will & testament in manner and form following – Imprimis that after this life I _____ my soul to God in Jesus Christ & my body to a descent burial by the ______ of my Executrix & overseers and also just debts payd if _____ of my estate as followeth – Item My will is that all my estate should be kept together under the care of my wife, until my children shall come to the age of twenty & one year – Item my will is that my son John shall have a double portion of my estate [excepting my wives third part] in lands & part in personal estate, according to the discretion of my executrix & overseers when he shall come of age – Item, my will is that ye rest of my estate shallbe divided to the rest of my childfen an equa ll shares to each of them as they shal come of age, allowing for ______ bringing of them up according to the discretion of my executrix & overseers – Itrem I constitute & appoint with my wife executrix Thomas Tublo Junior & Joseph Peck Junior to be overseers to this my estate as above to be divided. – Signed sealed in the presence of us Joseph Peck & Thomas Tublo – the Mark of John Hotchkis – Also it is my desire that my children may have trades such as they have desire & can with most convenience be obtained.3
