Jonathan was born on Thursday, 23 December 1683 in the Town of Southold, Suffolk County, Long Island, New York. Jonathan married Mary Tuthill on 27 November 1707 in the Town of Southold, Suffolk County, Long Island, New York.3 Jonathan and Mary had children: Azariah [3/20/1715-3/27/1777] [m. 1750 Eunice Foster], Lazarus [11/14/1724-9/09/1764] [m. 5/01/1752 Ann Corey] & Mehitable [2/27/1732-4/21/1751] [m. Moses Sawyer] & possibly others. Jonathan departed this life on Saturday, 2 April 1768 in the Town of Southold at age 84 years, 3 months and 10 days. He was buried there in the First Presbyterian Church burying ground in the village of Southold. The inscription on his tombsotne reads: In Memory of Mr. Jonathan Horton who died April 3d 1768 in the 85th year of his age.4

Her family being one of the earliest in the town. John Tuthill being the chief executive officer there in 1642. His father was Jonathan, son of Jonathan of Barnabas. Azariah was born 20 March 1715.
