     Ruth was born on Monday, 24 January 1684 in Aquabogue in the Town of Southold, Suffolk County, Long Island, New York. She was the daughter of George Havens and Eleanor Thurston. She was first married to Thomas Terry III [1681-10/17/1723], the son of Thomas Terry II and Elizabeth, circa 1699 at Southold. They had children: Thomas IV [1700-1/17/1740] [m. 3/19/1724 Mehitable Tuthill], Daniel [1708-1/23/1761] [m. 2/26/1731 /elizabeth Tuthill], Joseph [1710-3/14/1733] [m. 1/04/1732 Sarah Dimon], Jonathan [1714-6/09/1775] [m. Lydia Tuthill] & William [1716-1/04/1802] [m. 1741 Elizabeth Cleaves]. Ruth married 2nd Rev Nathaniel Mather, son of Reverand Samuel Mather and Hannah Treat, on 21 January 1724 in the Town of Southold, Suffolk County, Long Island, New York.1 The Aquabogue church was built in 1731 and Nathaniel became its first mnister and remained there until his death. Ruth departed this life on Thursday, 9 May 1743 in the Town of Southold at age 59 years, 3 months and 15 days.2 She was buried at Jamesport in the Jamesport Cemetery. She was buried in the Tuthill plot. The inscription on her tombstone reads: Here lyeth interred the body of Ruth Mather wife of Rev. Nathaniel Mather.3
