William is a farmer.3 Jane died between 1856 and 1870 the date her last child was born and her husband was a widow on the 1870 census. 15 July 1860, Jane and her husband William were listed on the U.S. Federal Census in Anally Township, Sonoma County, California. Enumerated in this household were William H. Horton [46 New York], Jane S. [36 New York], Samuel Parshall [14 Michigan], James K [12 Michigan], Alfred L. [8 Michigan], Harriet [4 California] & a farm laborer, Walter Bennet [26 New York]. They worked a farm and had personal estate valued at $1000.4
