     John George was born in 1730 in Bernville, Berks County, Pennsylvania. John married Anna Margaretha Bechtel, daughter of Johannes Bechtel and Maria Appolonia Marrett, on 15 December 1754 in Bernville, Berks County, Pennsylvania, at Northkill Church.1,2 John made his will on 28 May 1796.

In the name of God Amen I George Hawk of Upper Paxton in the County of Dauphin and the State of Pennsylvania being well advanced in age and weak in body but of sound mind thanks be to God for the same, and having considered the mortality of man , knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die, Do make and ordain this my last will and testament, that is to say, First, I commit my soul into the hands of God who gave it hoping through the merits of my redeemer Jesus Christ a blessed resurrection and my body to the earth to be buried in a Christian like manner. And touching my worldly affairs wherewith the Lord blest me in this life I give and bequeath the same as follows – It is my will and I order that my just debts and funeral expenses be paid as soon as possible after my decease. Item, I give and bequeath to my oldest son George Michael one hundred and fifteen acres of the Land of Lands with the appurtenances for ever out of my Estate for the sum of ninety pounds lawful money of Pennsylvania to be paid to me or my heirs if the sum of the same is not all paid before my decease then he shall pay the sum to the rest of his Brothers and Sisters who shall divide the same in equal shares this is my will and testament. Item – I give and bequeath unto my beloved son Philip Hag and to my beloved son Mathias Hag on hundred eighty eight and one quarter acres of Land with the appurtenances forever to be equally divided and if one or the other should wish to sell his share he shall sell the same to the other it must remain together my son Philip Hawk must pay to my son George Hawk the sum of fifty pounds lawful money of Pennsylvania twenty five pounds which must be paid in one year in one year after my decease and that Philip Hag and Mathias Hag must also pay the sum of fifty pounds good and lawful money to George Hag and the next year following Philip Hag and Mathias Hag must pay to my son George Hag fifty pounds good money and the next year following when the fifty pounds are pard by Philip Hag and Mathias Hag to George Hag then they shall pay the year following the remainder five and twenty pounds lawful money to George Hag together until the hundred pounds are fully paid this is my will and testament. Item – I give and bequeath to my oldest daughter Barbara and her heirs Thirty pounds forever out of my estate five years after my decease my sons Philip Hag and Mathias Hag must pay the thirty pounds lawful money to my beloved daughter Barbara or her heirs out of my estate this is my will and testament – I give and bequeath to my beloved daughter Catharina and heirs forever Thirty pounds good money out of my estate six years after my decease Philip Hag and Mathias Hag must pay the thirty pounds good money to my beloved daughter Catharina this is my will and testament – Item I give and bequeath to my daughter Catharina my cow after my decease she shall have her this is my will and testament.-Item – I give and bequeath to my daughter Christina and her heirs forever thirty pounds good money out of my estate seven years after my decease Philip Hag and Mathias Hag shall pay the thirty pounds good money to my beloved daughter Christina and her heirs this is my will and testament – Item – I give and bequeath to my beloved daughter Margaretha and her heirs forever thirty pounds good money out of my estate eight years after my decease Philip Hag and Mathias Hag must pay the thirty pounds to my beloved daughter Margaretha and her heirs this is my will and testament. – Item – I give and bequeath to my beloved daughter Susannah and her heirs forever thirty pounds out of my estate nine years after my decease Philip Hag and Mathias Hag must pay the thirty pounds to my beloved daughter Susannah and her heirs this is my will and testament. – Item – I give and bequeath to my beloved daughter Magdalena and her heirs forever thirty pounds out of my estate nine years after my decease Philip Hag and Mathias Hag must pay the thirty pounds to my beloved daughter Magdalena and her heirs this is my will and testament. – Item – I give and bequeath to my beloved son Philip Hag the dwelling house wherein I live and the barn and the one half of the one hundred eighty eight acres of Land the other half of the Land I give to my son Mathias Hag Philip Hag must assist Mathias to build a house of thirty two by twenty eight feet and covered with shingles and furnished like the one on the place and Philip Hag must help Mathias to build a barn a large as the one on the place as soon as it lies in his power and Philip Hag must help Mathias to clear four acres of swamp and Philip Hag must let Mathias Hag have hay and second crop and half until he can make fodder of his new meadow. Philip Hag must let Mathias Hag have half the apples from the old orchard until he shall have an orchard of his own on the new place that shall bear for the use of his family. Item – I give to my two sons Philip Hag and Mathias Hag two cows two heiffers two sows eight sheep swine the house clock plough and harrow the horse gears the wagon the wind mill and two beds this is my will and testament. Item – It is my will and I do order that the remainder of my personal estate after my decease shall be sold by public venue and the money to be divided I equal shares among all my children. And lastly, I nominate and appoint George Micxhael Hag and Philip Hag as my executors of this my testament and hereby make said all other testaments heretofore made holding this and no other as my last will and testament. In witness thereof I the said George Hag have here unto set my had and seal the 28th day of May in the year 1796 . . .

The 1800 U.S. Federal Census enumerates at Upper Paxton Township, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania, the family of George Hawk [32211:3111].3 John departed this life in 1808 in Upper Paxton Township at age 78 years. He was buried at Lykens Township, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania, in St. Peter's Cemetery. The inscription on his stone reads: George Haak 1730-1808. His will was probated on 2 May 1808.
