Simon Rich Griffin

     Simon Rich was born on Sunday, 14 July 1805 in Cherry Valley, Otsego County, Long Island, New York. He was the son of Franklin & Ruth [Rich] Griffin. Simon married Sarah Stedman, daughter of John D. Stedman II and Sylvia Catlin, in 1831 in Tioga County, New York. Simon & Sarah had children: Simon Franklin [11/21/1832-1/03/1907] [m. 1863 Charity Terry], Sarah [1834], Almira [1836], Nancy [1838], Maria [1841] & Abram [1843]. He married second in 1843, Samatha Slosson. Simon's wife, Sarah, died on 8 January 1843 in Richford, Tioga County, New York, leaving him a widower. Simon departed this life on Sunday, 12 September 1869 in Harford Mills, Tioga County, New York. He was buried at Hartford, Courtland County, New York, in Hartford Cemetery. S.
