Richard was born in 1281 in Derbyshire, England, at Codnor Castle. Richard was of great service to his king, King Edward II, as he fought in many battles, especially in the Scottish wars. Once again the king visited Codnor Castle, as in the year 1322, King Edward II paid honor to Sir Richard, by visiting his castle. Richard departed this life during the 7th year of the reign of King Edward III [1351] while his son, John, was in Scotland fighting for the King. His son had replaced him due to his weakened condition. at age 70 years in Codnor Castle, Derbyshire, England.2
