Jean-Marie Grenier

     Jean-Marie was born on Saturday, 15 October 1785 in Yamachiche, Quebec, Canada. He was the son of Michel Grenier & Marguerite Boisvert. He was christened on the same day there in Ste-Anne Church.¹ Jean-Marie married Marguerite Ayotte, daughter of Alexis Ayotte and Marie Louise Lecoq dit Ladouceur, on 8 August 1814 in St-Joseph-de-Maskinonge at St-Joseph Church.² Jean and Marguerite had children: Emerentienne [4/27/1815], Marguerite [3/15/1817], Julie [3/06/1819][m. 2/16/1846 Joseph Berlinguet], Jean Baptiste [3/30/1821][m. 2/01/1847 Emilie Caroline Henault de Canada], Joseph [7/06/1823-2/12/1827], Thomas [1824-2/18/1827], Thomas [9/03/1825], Paul Elie [1/02/1828-6/10/1832], Damase [1/15/1830-2/12/1833], Marie Clephire [8/23/1833 & Louise Marie [5/29/1835].³ Jean-Marie's wife, Marguerite, died on 24 July 1845 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, leaving him a widower. He married Tharsile Dessein dit St Pierre on 26 October 1847 at Maskinonge. Jean-Marie departed this life on Saturday, 16 July 1859 in St-Joseph-de-Maskinonge at age 73 years, 9 months and 1 day. He was buried there in the churchyard of St-Joseph on Monday, 18 July 1859.
