Joseph was born in 1671 in Comte-de-Champlain, Quebec, Canada. Joseph married Marguerite Roy, daughter of Michel Roy dit Chatellerault and Francoise Aube, on 6 July 1701 in Ste-Anne-de-La-Perade, Champlain County, Quebec, Canada, at Ste-Anne-de-La-Perade Church.¹ He was a captain in the militia.² Joseph's wife, Marguerite, died on 19 May 1742 in Ste-Anne-de-La-Perade leaving him a widower. Joseph departed this life on Friday, 13 September 1748 in Ste-Anne-de-La-Perade at age 77 years. He was buried there in the cemetery of Ste-Anne-de-La-Perade on Sunday, 15 September 1748.³
