     Alexander was born in Blois, France. He was raised by his uncle Roger, Bishop of Salisbury. He was Archdeacon under his uncle in Salisbury in 1121. On 22 July 1123, he was consecrated Bishop of Lincoln.1 Alexander departed this life before 23 February 1148 in Normandy, France. He was on his way back from a second journey to Rome. He was buried at Lincoln, Lincolnshire, England.

    , Page 842 = Alexander, Bishop of Lincoln in the reigns of Henry I and Stephen. He was born at Blois in France, and was brought up under the care of his uncle Roger, bishop of Salisbury. His uncle made him archdeacon of Salisbury, and as he had great influence over King Henry I. , he got him made chief justice of England, and obtained for him the see of Lincoln. Alexander was consecrated by the archbishop at Canterbury on the twenty-second of July, 1123.
