     Barbara was born on Friday, 14 March 1783 in the Shenandoah Valley near Broadway, Rockingham County, Virginia. Barbara married Samuel Swartz on 15 October 1801 in Mt. Jackson, Shenandoah County, Virginia. Samuel & Barbara had children: Chris [8/14/1804], Jacob [ca. 1805], Philip [ca. 1807], Catharine [ca. 1809], twins: John [5/09/1811] & Elizabeth [5/09/1811], Samuel [1817] & Mary [1819]. They lived at Buck Hill, Shenandoah County, Virginia and later lived on a farm; known in 1850 as the "Meems" river bottoms, a short distance south of Mt. Jackson. Samuel was a weaver and also did some farming. Barbara departed this life on Monday, 19 March 1849 in Buck Hill at age 66 years and 5 days.
