M, d. 10 May 1706
Robert was born in Southampton, Hampshire, England. It is said that In May of 1638, Robert immigrated on the ship "Bevis." from Southampton, England but his name is not seen on the passenger list.3 Robert married Sarah Bowen, daughter of Richard Bowen and Ann (?), on 23 April 1642 in Rehoboth, Bristol County, Massachusetts. He first settled in Salem and soon moved on to Rehoboth. He was a man of significance there and held extensive tracts of land in and around Rehoboth. He was one of the first proprietors in Rehoboth and drew shares in the general divisions of lands in 1661 and 1668. He held the distinction of being the only bricklayer in all of New England for many years. In October of 1676, the Indians over ran the town killing all that they could and burning all in their way. Sarah and two of his sons were killed and his house was lost as well. Robert moved to Salem and remained there until 1696. Robert's wife, Sarah, died on 14 October 1676 in Rehoboth, Bristol County, Massachusetts, leaving him a widower.4 Robert departed this life on Monday, 10 May 1706 in Rehoboth, Bristol County, Massachusetts.
