Mary was born circa 1583 in either London, County Middlesex, England, or nearby county Essex. On 18 June 1599, Mary's grandmother, Elizabeth Brooke bequeathed in her will to her an ale pot of silver gilt withtwo ears. Mary married John Hewes on 14 February 1602. Mary departed this life after 1619 in Royston, Hertfordshire, England. Her youngest child was born about 1619. She was not mentioned in her husband's will he wrote on 20 June 1621 so it is assumed she had passed away by this time.
