Robert Foote

M, b. before 5 March 1620
FatherNathaniel Foote b. 1592, d. 1644
MotherElizabeth Deming b. 1595, d. 28 Jul 1683
Robert probably died before 1627. When his father died in 1644, records stated that his son Robert was age 17 years and his son, Nathaniel was age 23 years. This means that Nathaniel was also born in 1620 but no christening records exists for him. There is either confusion over the dates or this Robert died and another son was given the name of Robert. Robert was born before 5 March 1620 in County Essex, England, at the parish of Shalford. On 5 March 1620, he was christened in Coleshester, County Essex, England, at St. James Church.1,2

Smith Jr. 1660 Harmony Drive, Clearwater, Florida 33516 - calls attention to an error in TAG 53:205-206, where it is stated by me that the baptisms of the two eldest children of Nathaniel Foote and his wife, Elizabeth [Meming?] are found in the church of St. James, Shalford, Essex. The parish church at Shalford is not S. James but St. Andrews as is shown in Crockford's Clerical Directory and in Lewis' Topigraphical Dictionary of England. St. James's is a parish in Colchester and it is in that parish that Col. Smith has found the baptisms of the two children in question. The record is at the county records office at Chelmsford. Col. Smith holds a photo copy.
