Robert de Eyton1

M, b. circa 1118, d. circa 1175
Robert de was born circa 1118 in Shropshire, England. His parents are not known, but from records of a century before and from the arms of the William Pantulf family and of Adam de Audley family the following is known: Robert is a descendent of a Warin who held the same three manors in the late 10 hundreds as did Robert in the late 11 hundreds. Warin himself by way of arms is known to be of the Pantulf family. Thus, Warin would be a son, or more probable a grandson of William Pantulf the progenator of the Pantulf line. The arms also indicate that the de Audley family had married into the line. Robert married Edelina de Stafford, daughter of Robert de Stafford. The family resided at the Manor of Buttery, Shropshire, England. During the reign of Henry II [1154-1189], Robert de Eyton became the Lord of the Manors of Bratton, Eyton and Horton in Shropshire in feofeement to the Barons of Pantulf. During the time period of 1170-1175, he disposes of the Manor of Buttery to Shrewsbury Abbey with the consent of his suzerain, Ivo Pantulf.2 Robert departed this life circa 1175 in Shropshire, England, at the Manor of Buttery.
