Peter de Eyton III

     Peter de was born circa 1247 in Eyton, Shropshire, England. In 1255, his father dies and he, being the heir of his father, becomes the Lord of Eyton even though he was a very young boy. He was placed in the wardship of Peter Peverel by gift of Ralph le Butiler (then Baron of Wem).² In 1292, Peter settles his estate by using a fine levied at Westminister on 27 January 1292. In this action, he first gives the Manor of Eyton to his son, Peter, who returns it to him to hold in a life estate. The remainder of his estate goes to Peter Jr. and to his heirs, or if no heirs, to Margery, sister of Peter Jr. and to her heirs. Also in this same year, Peter Sr. is noted as one of the Knights serving on a jury, thus by this date he held the title of Sir Peter, Lord of Eyton. It appears that his last public act was as a member of Parliment at Lincoln in January 1301.³ Peter departed this life before 21 May 1311 in Shropshire, England, at the Manor of Eyton. As his son Peter identifies himself as Lord of Eyton.⁴
