Joan de Eyton

     Joan de was born circa 1316 in Eyton, Shropshire, England. Joan de married Sir Henry de Cresswell circa 1333 in Shropshire, England. Joan's husband, an unknown person , died in 1335 in Shropshire, England, leaving her a widow. She became the owner of this manor which is near the river Clune; in a very violent way. Joan de married 2nd Sir Adam de Peshale II, son of Adam de Peshale I and Alice de Swynnerton de Suggenhulle, circa 1336 in Shropshire, England.¹ Joan's husband, Adam, died on 8 January 1346 in Caynton, Shropshire, England, leaving her a widow. In the 34th year of Edward III [1361], Joan, along with her husband, John de Legh, co-heiress, sued her mother, Joan, widow of Adam Peshale for land at Cresswell Manor. Her mother replied that Sir Henry's bequest was for a term not yet expired and that she held it in dower & by assignment of Sir Richard de Peshale to whom the revision belonged & that she cannot answer without Sir Richard. It appears in later records, pertaing elsewhere, that the Peshale's retained the Manor of Cresswell.
She was involved in a suit against Richard Duddeleye & his wife, Isabell, over the land at Humeleys which she claimed was part of her dower rights.
