Sargeant William East

     A son of William's, by his first wife, was the first English person who died in Milford and died 18 June 1644 age one year. William, along with Alexander Bryan & his son, Richard Bryan were the first merchants at Milford. In 1640, a company was formed under the command of Capt. John Astwood. William Fowler was lieutenant, Alexander Bryan, Ensign, & William East, sergeant.1 William married 2nd Mary Baldwin, daughter of Sylvester Baldwin and Sarah (?), in 1676 in Milford.2
