Jean-Baptiste DuMas

     Jean-Baptiste was born on Sunday, 30 March 1698 in St-Michel, Bellechasse County, Quebec, Canada. He was christened there on 31 March 1698 in St-Michel Church.¹ Jean-Baptiste married Marie-Anne Bergeron, daughter of Jacques Bergeron and Marie-Agnes Grenon, on 2 July 1725 in St-Nicolas, Levis County, Quebec, Canada, at St-Nicolas Church.² Jean Baptiste and Marie Anne had children: Marie Anne [11/10/1726-4/23/1742], Jean Baptiste [3/01/1728-7/10/1809][m. 10/08/1751 Marie Angelique Belisle dit Malboeuf], Etienne [10/06/1729-11/05/1811][m. 7/22/1755 Marie Josephe Janelle], Marie Josephe [9/30/1731-2/08/1811][m. 2/10/1749 Jean Baptiste Rene dit Cottret], a child [still born 11/26/1733], Michel [12/28/1735-1/02/1736], Marie Louise [4/11/1738-5/01/1802][m. 1/08/1758 Michel Jutras], Joseph [4/17/1740-5/06/1741], Joseph [10/21/1742-7/29/1747] & Marie Madeleine [6/29/1747-10/17/1747].³ Jean-Baptiste departed this life on Tuesday, 21 April 1772 in Nicolet, Nicolet County, Quebec, Canada, at age 74 years and 22 days. He was buried there in the churchyard of St-Jean-Baptiste on Wednesday, 22 April 1772.⁴
