Jacques Dubois

     Jacques was born circa 1640 in St-Viviens, Charente, Poitou-Charentes, France. He was the son of Jacques Dubois and Jeanne Tinion. On 25 May 1664, he arrived at Quebec from France. The cencus of 1666 states he came as a commitment to be a domestic servant to Louis Sedillot.1 1666, Jacques was listed on the Canadian Census in Comte de Quebec, Quebec, Canada. Enumerated in this household were Louis Cedillot [66 years], Marie Grimont [60 years], Jean Cedillot [19 years], Jacques Dubois [23 years], Francois Pellitier [18 years].2 The annulment of his marriage with Marie Girard, daughter of Pierre Girard & Catherine Mounier of Notre Dame le Grande, Poitiers, Poitou, France, was recorded on 17 July 1667 by Giles Rogeot, justice of the peace. Then on the 12th of October, Mr. Rogeot notarized a marriage contract between Jacques & Catherine Vieillot.1 Jacques married Catherine Vieillot on 18 October 1667 in ville de Quebec, Quebec, Canada, at the Basilica of Notre Dame.3 Jacques departed this life circa 17 March 1675 in Ile-d'Orleans, Quebec, Canada. He was buried there in Ste-Famile Church on Sunday, 17 March 1675.4
