Asa Dolsen

M, b. 3 January 1761, d. 9 January 1828
     Asa was born on Saturday, 3 January 1761. He was the son of John Dolsen.
Asa married Mary Vail, daughter of Isaiah Vail and Abigail Meeker, circa 1784. Asa & Mary had children: James [11/11/1785] & Clarissa [m. John T. Jansen]. The 1800 U.S. Federal Census enumerates at Minisink Town, Orange County, New York, the family of Asa Dalsen [11110:11110].1 Asa made his will on 5 June 1827.

He mentions his wife, Mary, his son: James & his wife, Mary. He also mentions: Claracy, wife of John T. Jansen. His grandchildren: Asa Dolsen, son of James; Charles M. Dolsen, Gabriel D. Dolsen, William Wallace Dolsen, John Dolsen, Asa T. Jansen, James Jansen, Charles Jansen, Claracy Dolsen, Maria Jane Jansen. Great grandchild, son of Gabriel L. Dolsen. Executors: James Dolsen, Dr. John T. Jansen & John B. Booth. Witnessed by William Arnout, Azubah Davis, Juliann Corwin. He also had a codicil dated 15 December 1827 - witnessed by James Dolsen & Peter Holbert. And a 2nd codicil dated: 25 December 1827 - witnessed by Peter Holbert, Daniel Dunning, & William Arnout.2

Asa departed this life on Wednesday, 9 January 1828 in Minisink Town, Orange County, New York, at age 67 years and 6 days. He was buried at Middletown in Pine Hill Cemetery. The inscription on his tombstone reads: Asa Dolson who Died Jan. 9, 1828 Age 67yrs. 6 days.3 His will was probated on 14 January 1828.
