William was born circa 1558 in the hamlet of Deighton in the parish of Deighton, East Riding of Yorkshire, England. William married Agnes Green, daughter of Ralph Green and Johannah Reed, on 9 August 1584 in England. William was the first of his family to leave York, He moved to London and settled in Saint Martin's in the Fields.
