Eleanor Deane
F, b. circa 1592, d. before 30 April 1630
Eleanor was born circa 1592 in Chard, Somersetshire, England. Eleanor married John Strong, son of George Strong, in 1609 in Chard, Somersetshire, England. In the bishop's transcripts, only the year and John's name are on the record, the wife's name has been torn off. It is likely that the bride's given name was Eleanor, the woman that married second, William Cogan. John's daughter Eleanor, was mentioned in William Cogan's will. There is also strong circumstantial evidence that she was the sister of William Dean, father of Margery, first wife of John's son, Elder John Strong.1 Eleanor married 2nd William Cogan after 14 July 1613 in Chard, Somersetshire, England. William raised the two children of his wife's first marriage. It does not appear that the couple had any children of their own. Around 1635 married second Joan ____. They had two daughters, Eleanor and Joan who were not of age at the writing of their father's will in 1654. Eleanor departed this life before 30 April 1630 in Chard, Somersetshire, England. On this date, William entered into a life time lease which was valid as long as John Strong & Eleanor Cogan were living. [his first wife's two children] [the wording of the lease suggests that the land involved was land originally owned by the father of the two siblings, John Strong]
