Marie-Charlotte de Poitiers

     Marie-Charlotte was born circa 1641 in Somme, Picardie, France. She was the daughter of Pierre-Charles de Poitiers & Helene de Bolleau.1 She immigrated to New France as a fille a Marier having signed a marriage contract on 2 May 1660 notorized by Guillaume Audouart de Saint-Germain. Once in Quebec she followed in the footsteps of her mother-in-law by becoming a midwife. Marie-Charlotte married Joseph Hébert, son of Guillaume Hébert and Hélène Desportes, on 12 October 1660 in Montreal at the Basilica of Notre Dame.2 Marie-Charlotte's husband, Joseph, died in 1661, leaving her a widow.3 Joseph & Marie-Charlotte had one child, Joseph, born posthumously 5 October 1661.4 She remarried on 11 January 1667 to Simon Lefebvre at Notre Dame de Quebec.5 Marie-Charlotte departed this life in Pointe-aux-Tremples, Neuville, Portneuf County, Quebec, Canada. She was buried there in the churchyard of St-Francois-de-Sales, Pointe-Aux-Tremples on Wednesday, 9 February 1718.6
