Marie-Claire de la Hogue

     Marie-Claire was born in 1651 in Paris, Ile-de-France, France, at St-Germain-le-Vieil. She was the daughter of Gilles de la Hogue & Marie le Brun. On 15 May 1669, Marie-Claire left her home in France aboard the ship, "St-Jean-Baptiste", under the command of Captain Pierre Fillye, as one of 149 young ladies who were "Filles de Roi". These young ladies boarded the ship at either Dieppe or La Rochelle & were under the care of Madame Bourdon. They arrived at Quebec on the 30th of June. She brought with her 100 livres for her dowry, 50 livres of which came from the king..1 A contract for the marriage of Jean Sedilot dit Montreuil & Marie-Claire de la Hogue was signed on 25 November 1669. It was drawn up by the notary, Mr. Duquet.1 Marie-Claire married Jean Sedilot dit Montreuil, son of Louis Sedilot and Marie Grimoult, on 27 November 1669 in ville de Quebec, Quebec, Canada, at the Basilica of Notre Dame.2 Jean & Marie-Claire had children: Anne-Jeanne [8/21/1670-1681], Isabelle Elisabeth [7/21/1671-10/25/1671], Louis [7/22/1672-12/13/1672], Francois [10/05/1673], Marie-Genevieve [11/10/1675-3/18/1711][m. 1/07/1692 Jean Baptiste Legris dit Lepine], Charles Louis [5/24/1678-5/02/1759][m. 8/26/1704 Mari Jeanne Sabatier], Marie [12/26/1680-5/17/1711][m. 5/21/1703 Joseph Bisson], Jean [2/28/1683-3/12/1745][m. 11/25/1705 Marie Jeanne Dorion], Marie Genevieve [8/29/1685-12/16/1749][m. 2/03/1712 Jean-Baptiste Prevost] & Marguerite [8/20/1687-1/23/1735][m. 10/06/1710 Jacques Payant dit St Onge].3 1681, Marie-Claire and her husband, Jean, were listed on the Canadian Census in ville de Quebec. Enumerated in this household were Jean Sedilot [34 years], Marie de-la-Hogue [30 years], Anne [11 years], Francois [8 years], Marie [6 years] & Jean [2 years].4 Marie-Claire departed this life on Monday, 25 August 1687 in ville de Quebec at age 36 years. She was buried there in the Notre Dame Cemetery on Tuesday, 26 August 1687.5
