William Davis1

M, b. circa 1617, d. 24 May 1676
     William was born circa 1617 in England.2 He was married first on 6 December 1644, to Margaret Pynchon. She died 3 July 1653, leaving him a widow. William married 2nd Huldah Symmes, daughter of Reverend Zachariah Symmes and Sarah Baker, circa 1655 in Boston in the Massachuetts Bay Colony.3 William and Huldah had children: Sarah [9/43/1654], Elizabeth [6/26/1655], Mary [12/07/1656], Rebecca [8/08/1658], Huldah [10/21/1659], Ruth [12/17/1660], Ruth [born 2/12/1662], John [6/14/1663], Deborah [4/16/1665], Margaret [born 11/13/1667], Joseph [born 9/03/1669], Hannah [born 8/19/1674] & Jane [born 8/19/1674]. Except where noted the above dates are of their baptisms. Mary was born Dec. 3, 1656, Rebecca was born Aug 3, 1658 and Huldah was born Dec. 25, 1659.3 William's wife, Huldah, died circa 19 August 1674 in Boston leaving him a widower.2 He married third Sarah Farmer, daughter of John Farmer. In his will, he mentions his mother and his wife Sarah.2 William made his will on 17 May 1676.4 William departed this life on Sunday, 24 May 1676 in Boston.4 He was buried there at Boston in King's Chapel Burying Ground. He was interred in the Davis Tomb; the inscription on the tomb reads: Founded 1670 by Captain William Davis Died May 1675 and here Deposited Repaired and Rebuilt July 1810 by his great Grandson Edward Davis.5 His will was probated on 26 May 1676. His widow, Sarah, married Edward Palmer of New London as her name appeared on a deed dated 1695.2
