Marguerite Dandonneau

     She was christened on the same day there in the church of Notre-Dame-du-Cap.¹ Marguerite was born on Friday, 20 June 1659 in Trois-Rivieres, Quebec, Canada. A contract for the marriage of Marguerite & Jacques Brissette dit Courchesne was signed on 15 November 1672 in Champlain, Les Chenaux County, Quebec, Canada. The contract was signed by the notary Guillaume and noted that Jacques' mother was Jeanne Fettis and that Marguerite's parents were Pierre Dandonneau de la Junesse & Francoise Jobin..² Jacques & Marguerite had children: Jacques [9/22/1675-3/31/1731][m. 3/08/1710 Marie-Jeanne Duteau], Benard [ca. 1678-1/21/1750][m. 2/01/1712 Catherine Lepelle], Marie-Jeanne [7/18/1682-5/15/1727][m. 6/05/1713 Joseph Petit], Marie-Marguetite [8/04/1685-8/27/1686], Francois [8/04/1685-8/28/1689], Jacques [9/22/1686-8/28/1689], Joseph [7/23/1688-10/22/1708], Jean-Francois [2/06/1690-8/25/1691], Charles [8/12/1691][m. 2/19/1716 Marie-Josephe Petit], Joseh Melchior [11/23/1692-7/18/1769][m. 2/26/1726 Genevieve Casaubon], Marguerite [10/03/1694-4/21/1769][m. 1716 Jean-Francois Casaubon & 2nd 2/04/1743 Pierre Caya], Genevieve [1/23/1697-1/10/1756][m. 3/16/1728 Francois Dizy], Marie-Madeleine [1/23/1697-6/16/1743][m. 2/03/1720 Pierre Duval], Marie-Charlotte [10/12/1698-3/19/1731][. 1/13/1722 Alexis Duteau], Marie-Anne [10/15/1700-11/21/1728][m. 2/09/1720 Ignace Dizy] & Marie-Catherine [9/29/1702-9/29/1702].³ 1681, Marguerite and her husband, Jacques, were listed on the Canadian Census at Champlain. Enumerated in this household were Jaques Brisset [33 years], Marguerite Dandonneau [23 years], Jacques [6 years], Bernard [3 years] & two servants.⁴ Marguerite's husband, Jacques, died on 27 March 1736 in Ile-DuPas leaving her a widow. Marguerite departed this life in Ile-DuPas. She was buried there in the churchyard of La Visitation on Tuesday, 22 March 1740.⁵
