Sibyl Curtis

     Sibyl was born on Tuesday, 23 October 1708 in Farmington, Hartford County, Connecticut. She was the daughter of Captain Thomas & Mary [Goodrich] Curtis.¹ Sibyl married Ebenezer North, son of Thomas North and Hannah Newell, on 10 December 1730 in Farmington at First Church of Christ. Ebenezer & Sibyl had children: Ashbel [10/03/1731-7/09/1800], Noah [1/10/1733-4/05/1808], Martin [12/13/1734-1806], Sibyl [9/04/1736][m. Samuel Cowles of Norfolk], Lucy [5/01/1739][m. 2/25/1766 Amasa Cowles of Norfolk], Asahel [5/13/1743-1803][unmarried], Ebenezer [6/27/1746-12/13/1832], Achsah [8/14/1748][m. 12/12/1780 John Bidette] & Sarah [12/01/1752][m. Lebbeus Holmes]. The family moved from the Great Swamp to Torrington, Litchfield County in the Spring of 1741. They were the progenators of the Torrington branch of the North family. Sibyl's husband, Ebenezer, died on 5 August 1780 in Torrington leaving her a widow. Sibyl departed this life on Monday, 17 December 1798 in Winchester, Litchfield County, Connecticut, at age 90 years, 1 month and 24 days.
