     James was born in 1711 in Durham, Middlesex County, Connecticut. Hannah married James Curtis circa 1734 at Durham, Middlesex County, Connecticut. James and Hannah had children: Nathan [6/29/1735-9/21/1776] and Aaron [9/09/1737-5/30/1801] [m. Hannah Griswold]. James departed this life on Wednesday, 13 January 1790 in Durham at age 79 years. He was buried there in the Old Durham Cemetery. The inscription on his tombstone reads: In Memory of Capt James Curtis, Deacon of this Church who having been exemplary for piety, peace and order from his youth, and useful in various Offices of civil and sacred Trust through Life, resigned his breath, Jan'y 13th AD 1790 in the 80th Year of his Age. The hoary Head of the righteous is a Crown of Glory.2
