Ruth Crowell

     Ruth was born on Sunday, 18 October 1722 in Yarmouth, Barnstable County, Massachusetts. She was the daughter of John Covell and Experience Higgins. She was first married to Amos Kelley on 26 November 1747 in Yarmouth. Ruth married 2nd James Covell, son of Joseph Covell and Hannah Bassett, on 16 September 1762 in Yarmouth. James and Ruth had children: Ruth [9/13/1764-5/08/1817] [m. 3/01/1782 Edward Hall Jr.], Joshua [10/13/1766-6/14/1827] [m. 10/13/1787 Elizabeth Hall] & Nathan 9/06/1768-8/18/1864] [m. 11//27/1790 Tabitha Taylor & 2nd 1806 Dorcas Taylor]. Ruth's husband, James, died in June 1781 in Chatham leaving her a widow.
