Carrie Crandall

     Carrie was born on Friday, 30 January 1891 in Howell, Livingston County, Michigan. She was the daughter of Francis Crandall & Ella Yerkes. Carrie married Floyd Emmett Howell, son of Floyd Parshall Howell and Lucy Ann Mapes, on 29 June 1912. Emmett & Carrie had children: Maxine Effie [8/22/1913-6/20/1920], Maurine Ella [6/04/1915-2/18/1988], Jeanette Lucille [6/29/1918], Janice Lucy [6/29/1918], Carolyn Jean [2/06/1926] & Frank Floyd [5/26/1928]. 25 February 1920, Carrie and her husband, Floyd, were listed on the U.S. Federal Census in Handy Township, Livingston County, Michigan. Enumerated in this household were Emmett Howell [31 Michigan], his wife: Carry [29 Michigan], children: Maxine [6 Michigan], Murine [4 Michigan], Janice [1 1/2 Michigan], & Janette [1 1/2 Michigan].¹ 5 April 1930, Carrie and her husband, Floyd, were listed on the U.S. Federal Census in Handy Township. Enumerated in this household were Emmit Howell [41 Michigan], his wife: Carrie L [9 Michigan], Morine [14 Michigan], Janelle [11 Michigan], Janice [11 Michigan], Carolyn J. [4 Michigan] & Frank F. [1 /12 Michigan]. Emmit was 23 years old when first married & Carrie 21 years. Emmit is a general farmer.² 5 April 1940, Carrie and her husband, Floyd, were listed on the U.S. Federal Census in Handy Township at Sharp Road. Enumerated in this household were Emmett Howell [51 Michigan], his wife: Carrie [49 Michigan], Carolyn [14 Michigan] & Frank [11 Michigan]. Emmett had 3 years of hiigh school & Carrie 3 years of college. Carrie is a lecturer for the United States Department of Agriculture.³ Carrie's husband, an unknown person , died on 26 November 1960 in Handy Township, Livingston County, Michigan, leaving her a widow. Carrie departed this life on Saturday, 20 December 1980 in Mason, Ingham County, Michigan, at age 89 years, 10 months and 20 days.⁴ She was buried at Fowlerville, Livingston County, Michigan, in the Greenwood Cemetery.⁵
