1. [S139] Edward Tanjore Corwin, Corwin Genealogy (Curwin, Curwen, Corwine) in the United States, page 117 - 2 CAPTAIN JOHN,3 (John, 1) b.     , 1663, d. December 13th, 1729.
   m. Sarah --, before 1698, when her name occurs on census list, as wife of John. (Doc. Ilist. N. P. i. 450.) Ch. Benjamin, John, David, Sarah, Elizabeth, Hester.
   In 1692, received of his father a lot of woodland lying west of the town, (Southold) and on the north side of the road, by Nathaniel Terry's land. (Book C, 124.) Same year, received a second lot of land at Aquebock. 1695, another lot of upland, west of the town, and bounded west by Benjamin Moore's land, and east by Mr. Hubbard's land. 1696, deed from John and Jemima Paine for 50 acres; in 1702, the same number of acres was deeded back to Paine. 1702, deed from Jonathan Horton for land between Duck Pond and Inlet; same year, sold 25 acres of fresh meadows to Caleb Horton. 1704, deed from W. Downs for land on Peconic River. 1705, bought land of Jonathan Horton. (Book C, 248.) 1708, Theophilus Curwin sells land to John Curwin for five shillings, namely, s part of a meadow at Aquebogue, on west side of Vail's Brook. (Samuel Curwin, a witness.) 1708, buys the homestead and 18 acres at Southold, of his brother Matthias, for £76, who also sold him a certain lot of land in Indian Neck for 50 shillings. 1711, deed from John Youngs, 2 lots in Queen's Road. 1712, deed to Benjamin Youngs, 50 acres.
   3 JOHN,* (John, 2) b. July 10th, 1705, d. December 22d. 1755.
   M. (1) Perhaps Hester Clark, according to a book in possession of
   Augustus Griffin, of Orient, L. I. ; (2) Elizabeth Goldsmith, 1732,
   yet living, probably, in 1776. Ch. John, James, William, Elizabeth, Sarah. Several children of a
   John Corwin, who died young, perhaps belonged to this John, namely,
   a child died 1735, another died 1738, his second daughter died 1746,
   and Elnathan died January, 1738.

   M. Deborah Wells, 1732. She was b. 1717, d. November 24th, 1798. Ch. David, Joshua, Joseph, Phineas,' Eli, Annie, and perhaps other daughters.
   In 1776, on census list, 403, having in his family one male over fifty, and one female over sixteen. IIe moved to Orange Co., N. Y., probably at the opening of the Revolutionary War. He was buried at Middletown, in that county, but no tombstone has been found. This is, no doubt, the David whose name occurs as a freeholder of Southold, in 1737. (Doc. Mist. N. P. iv. 132.) His name is often written Curwin. His descendants are very many.

   page 12 - Capt. Corwin's son Benjamin died 26 or 22 April 1721.
