     Simon was born on Friday, 1 April 1672 in Newport, Newport County, Rhode Island. He was the son of Simon Cooper & Mary Tucker. Simon married, daughter of Matthew Prior and Mary (?), the 24th day of the 5th month 1693 in Matinecock, Queens County, Long Island, New York. Simon was the first chirurgeon of the Town of Oyster Bay. He is said to have brought with him hawthorne & pear trees.
