John Conklin II1,2

M, b. 1630, d. 6 April 1694
     John was born in 1630 in Nottinghamshire, England. He was son of John Conklin, the Puritan & Elizabeth Allsobrooke. John married Sarah Horton, daughter of Barnabas Horton and Anne Smith, on 2 December 1657 in the Town of Southold, Suffolk County, Long Island, New York. John & Sarah had children: Sarah, Rachel, Mary, Joseph, John, Henry, Thomas, & Elizabeth. They were all born at Southold. John departed this life on Tuesday, 6 April 1694 in the Town of Southold at age 64 years. He was buried there in the First Presbyterian Church burying ground in the village of Southold. The inscription on his stone is as follows: Around the outside of the slab it reads: HERE LYETH THE BODY OF CAOTAIN JOHN CONKELYNE BORNE IN NOTTINGHAMSHIRE ENGLAND WHO DEPARTED THIS - in side these words is: LIFE THIE SIXTH DAY OF APRILL ATT SOUTH HOLD ON LONG ISLAND IN THE SIXTY FOURTH YEAR OF HIS AGE ANNO DOM 1694.3
