Clara A. Cole

     Clara A. was born on Wednesday, 24 February 1864 in Mount Blanchard, Hancock County, Ohio. She was the daughter of Oscar A. Cole and Polly R. Bristoll. Clara A. married Samuel Beery, son of Jonathan Beery and Magdalena Corfman, circa 1890 in Ohio. 2 June 1900, Clara and her husband, Samuel, were listed on the U.S. Federal Census in Findlay, Hancock County, Ohio, at 135 Shinkle Street. Enumerated in this household were Samuel Beery [January 1858 - 42 Ohio] & his wife: Clara A. [February 1864 - 36 Ohio]. They had been married 10 years with no children. He was a hay buyer.¹ Clara's husband, Samuel, died on 26 September 1909 in Findlay leaving her a widow. 21 April 1910, Clara was listed on the U.S. Federal Census in Findlay at 107 1/2 S. Main Street. Enumerated in this household were Clara A. [46 Ohio]. Clara was a widow, rented her home and had an independent income.² 16 January 1920, Clara was listed on the U.S. Federal Census in Findlay at 107 1/2 S. Main Street. Enumerated in this household were Clara A. [55 Ohio]; her sister, Alice M. Wilson [68 Ohio], & her niece, Myrtle V. Munger [33 Ohio]. Clara and Alice were widowed; Myrtle was married. Clara worked as a stripper in a cigar factory and Myrtle was a bookkeeper for the city auditor.³ Clara departed this life on Sunday, 2 March 1930 in Findlay at 105 S. Main Street at age 66 years and 6 days. She was buried there in the Maple Grove Cemetery on Wednesday, 5 March 1930.
