Benjamin Collins

M, b. 6 February 1687, d. 23 December 1756
     Benjamin was born on Thursday, 6 February 1687 in Eastham, Barnstable County, Massachusetts. He was the son of Joseph Collins & Ruth [Bower] Knowles.1 Benjamin married Sarah Bangs, daughter of Jonathan Bangs and Mary Mayo, on 8 January 1707 in Truro, Barnstable County, Massachusetts.1 Benjamin and Sarah had children: Sarah [1/08/1708], Richard [2/08/1709], Lydia [9/30/1712], Benjamin 5/11/1713], Jonathan [3/31/15], Hannah [6/25/1720], Mary [5/__/1722], Joseph [2/29/1723/24] & Silvanius [7/08/1727].2 Benjamin was described in land records as the son-in-law to Capt. Jonathan Bangs with whom he owned several properties in joint ownership. He was also described as a “flourishing and quite extensive farmer in those days, owning hundreds of acres of wood, meadow, and high marsh lands at the head of Pamet (River) near the ocean.”.3 Benjamin departed this life on Thursday, 23 December 1756 in Truro at age 69 years, 10 months and 17 days.4
