     Robert was born circa 26 October 1596 in Thorpe-Morieux, County Suffolk, England. On 26 October 1596, he was christened in Thorpe-Morieux, County Suffolk, England. Robert married Mary (?) circa 1623 in England. He followed the trade of his father being a cloth maker. He was elected as overseer of cloth at Boxford in April of 1625. This area of England was the birth place of Puritanism. John Winthrop's residence at Groton was the adjacent to the north of Boxford. Robert's wife, Mary, died circa 27 October 1628 in Boxford, County Suffolk, England, leaving him a widower. Robert married 2nd Hannah Dearslay on 29 April 1630 in Assington, County Suffolk, England. On 30 April 1634, Robert & his wife, Hannah, left Ipswich aboard the ship, "Francis", under the command of Captain John Cutting, bounded for New England. Robert had in his possession a certificate allowing departure. Listed among the ship's passengers were Robert Coe aged 38 years, Anna his wife aged 43 years, John aged 8 years, Robert aged 7 years & Benjamin aged 5 years. They arrived at Boston..3,4 They fiirst resided at Watertown, near Boston, Massachusetts. They left there because if was becoming very crowded with new immigrants arriving. By June of 1635, they were in Wethersfield, Connecticut & Stamford by early spring of 1641. They removed from both places for differences in their religious beliefs. In 1644, they removed to Hempstead, Owueen County, Long Island, spring of 1652 he was a leader in the formation fof another new settlement which became knownn Newtown. By 1656, Newtown had become well established & he turned over his interests to his son, Benjamin. In spring 1656, he was again the leader of the settlement called Jamaica. On 9 May 1661, he refers that Richard Crabb as his brother-in-law. Robert's wife, Hannah, died in Queens County, Long Island, New Netherlands, leaving him a widower. Robert married 3rd Jane (?) after 15 February 1674 in Jamaica, Queens County, Long Island, New York. She was 1st married to Bartholomew Smith & 2nd to Edward Rouse. On the 20 November 1878, they returned back to Hempstead where they purchased a farm of 50 acres. He died in Hempstead after 20 June 1687 when he signed a deed & before 28 June 1690 when his widow sold land.
