Lord of Chetwynd, left son John; John de Chetwynd died 1240; having had issue: 1. Sir John died 1280, whose son surrendered Chetwynd to his cousin as below; 2. Philip, ancestor of the Viscounts of Chetwynd, 3. Adam, whose son John became Lord of Chetwynd, and died 1354, leaving a son, Reginald, whose daughter & heiress, Joan de Chetwynd, married Richard de Peshall, who was sheriff of Shropshire 1374-1376 and had two daughters, Joyce, married Pigott and took Chetwynd to that family, & Isabellamarried Thomas Grosvenor of Bellaport.
  2. [S1016] Robert William Eyton, Antiquities of Shropshire, Volume 8: page 86 - 28 December 1282 -Eva de Oswaldestre filed complaint to King Edward I - to the effect that she had gift of certain manors of Adam de Chetwynd.;;
    Inquest held at Stafford 9 January 1283, found that by gift of Adam de Chetwynd. and long before his death, Eva had had custody of the Manors of Tixhall, Ypstanes, Weston & Chetwynd ... the sheriff had conficated the Manor of Hartwell of which John, son of Adam, had been seized.
