Hawise de Chester Countess of Lincoln

Hawise de was born circa 1180 in Chestershire, England.1 Hawise de married Robert de Quincey, son of Saier de Quincey 1st Earl of Wincester and Margaret de Beaumont Countess of Wincester, in England.1 Robert and Hawise had one daughter, Margaret de Quincy who married John de Lacy, Earl of Lincoln. Hawise's husband, Robert, died in 1217 in London, County Middlesex, England, leaving her a widow.1 Hawise inherited the Earldom of Lincolnshire from her brother, Ralph, who died in October of 1232. As a result of the king's acceptance of the inheritence, she gained the title of Countess of Lincolnshire.1 Hawise departed this life before 19 February 1243 in Lincolnshire, England, at the Castle of Bolingbroke. On this date, her son-in-law, Walter Marshall, Earl of Pembroke, restored Hawise's castle of Bolingbroke to the King.1
