Michel Chauvin

M, b. 14 January 1612
     Michel was born on Saturday, 14 January 1612 in Ste-Suzanne, Maine-et-Loire, Pays de la Loire, France. He was the son of Gabriel Chauvin & Marie Arouard.1 A contract for the marriage of Michel Chauvin & Anne Archambault was signed on 22 July 1647 at Quebec, Canada. The contract was drawn up by the notary M. Bancheron. It is noted that she is the daughter of Jacques Archambault & Francoise Torreau - both present at the signing. Michel was originally from the parish of Ste-Suzanne, Maine, France; his parents were the late Gabriel Chauve & Marie Harouard.2 Michel married Anne Archambault, daughter of Jacques Archambault and Francoise Chaveau, on 29 July 1647 in ville de Quebec, Quebec, Canada, at the Basilica of Notre Dame.3 After their marriage they moved to Montreal where in 1650, their home was burned by the Iroquois.4 This marriage was annulled on 8 October 1650 after it was discovered Michel had been 1st married in France, and he was banished from Montreal.5
